Cairns Australia - Wallabies, flowers and skinks

We've been on the lookout for Emus and Kangaroos, but have been unsuccessful. Tom had a close encounter with a kangaroo outside of Melbourne on a birding trip, but I've yet to see one in the wild.

I have, however, seen wallabies in the wild!

I've also been gathering images of some of the interesting flowers that are grown here.  Many are huge varieties of plant we struggle with in the states.  Coleus, for instance, grows to have 12-15" leaves!

I was busy taking photos of this wild sweet pea flower when along came a pretty bird. An Olive- backed sunbird, and her mate featured in the opening photo.  Since she got in the way of my photo, I just had to take it, right?  Evidently there are 31 sunbirds around the world, but only this one in Australia.  Go figure!

And then there are the creepy crawly things
