Oregon - Lakeview Rodeo Day 2

It's been many years since I've attended a rodeo, and Tom too.  He used to participate in an event called the "Ride and Tie" a combo running and riding event.  It involved 2 guys and one horse.  The rider would take off and ride to a set spot, tying the horse to wait for the runner that was coming behind.  Runner #2 would now ride, passing Rider #1 and leave the horse again for the Rider #1 to catch up.  Leapfrogging their way to the stadium, Tom and his partner won the race many years in a row, crossing the finish line in the stadium we were now in.

This was the first day of the pro circuit rodeo events.  Also on the schedule were a couple of events for the local kids and teens.
A local youngster trying calf bronco!

I've got many photos, so you can scroll through them.

We yelled and cheered and took photos along with the rest of the crowd.

No animals were injured, nor were any contestants.  A few limped out of the arena, but I'm pretty sure that goes with the job!

These guys put on a fun show.  I wouldn't want any of my relatives to do this to their bodies, but, hey that's just my opinion!

There's one more event to watch later this evening - the Destruction Derby!  Stay tuned for that one!

  1. Ms. Walker, I am currently putting together the Lake County Round Up program for their 100th anniversary and have looked everywhere for a dynamic photograph for the cover. Any chance I can use one of yours? I don't have a large budget, but I would be willing to purchase one and to give you photo credit. This program will be a souvenier for years to come. Thank you in advance for considering my request. My email address is: stevieruda@gmail.com
