Oregon - Lakeview Roundup - Destruction Derby Day 3

A couple of contestants wave to their fans.

The final event of the weekend, besides weekend long, all night partying, is the Destruction Derby.

The crew spends a couple of hours turning the nice rodeo arena into a muddy, log rimmed corral for the smash up, crash- em, who can hold out the longest in the destruction derby!

Sorry for the poor quality of the images.  The light was poor - after sunset, stadium lighting and the subjects kept bashing into each other!

The derby was sponsored by Pardue Construction, a local business.  During a break in the car actions, a soccer game was played.  A 6 foot soccer ball was brought to the field, along with a backhoe and a trackhoe to act as goalies.  This was the first time this was done here, so no one new what to expect, or how to referee or what was the final score.  After a 2nd then a final soccer ball was brought to the field after the first ones were punctured, the first team to get to five won.

The little orange car new the game and was able to maneuver around most everyone else.   The crown loved it and we all cheered when the 5th goal crosse the line!
