Colorado National Monument to Moab Utah- Day 1 in Moab

The drive from Fruita to Moab, via Cisco and highway 279 along the Colorado River, was as all the other scenic byways we've been on - Awesome!

Due to a scheduling error on my part, we had to scramble for a place to stay the night we arrived.  I'd already had trouble as this is high season, and just after Memorial Day - Moab was packed!
Luckily we stumbled on an opening at the Moab KOA.  After setting up camp we took off to explore and decide what we wanted to see and do here.

The road we chose was the road to Potash, paralleling the Colorado river.  It's a popular place for climbers and there were several out practicing on this afternoon. The scale of the rocks is deceiving, so when possible, I try to put something to give scale in the photograph.  The white trucks are from the climbers, and it's a long way to the top!

This is part of "Pucker Ridge". I think it looks like guards or sentinels watching over all....

Very old petroglyphs along the river wall

and how proud is Jack H's mom?........ 😞

This is the Potash river pullout... if you miss this, you get to go to Canyonlands....for many miles!
