Steamboat Springs to Gore Mountain

Marsh Marigold at Old Columbine at the top of Rabbit Ears Pass.

After being hosted in Steamboat Springs and shown all the great sites, we all, 2 trailers, 4 bodies and 1 dog, headed up Rabbit Ears Pass to the family property at Gore Mountain.  Gails' family has been camping here for many years, and it's lovely.  Of course, the views getting there were, once again, spectacular.

Stoney cliffs along the highway.

Our campsites nestled in the Aspens.

Gail had been teasing us with images from her game cameras of moose and bear in the campsite over the past several weeks.  Of course, they were 'no-show's ' until just after we left!

"I'm sure I can get a few more in my cheeks..."

"WHAAAAAAAAT?"

The colors all over have been really pleasing to the eye.  The soft new greens of the spring blooms and new growth, coupled with the bright blue Colorado skies has made me very happy!

Our time spent at camp was very mellow.  A ride around the local reservoir so the birders could get a 'bird fix', a quick trip to town for extra water, celebrating a birthday - Happy Birthday Dave, smores and stories by the campfire in the evenings, hanging around watching the birds and critters and helping out with a little camp maintenance.  All good.  Thanks for the invite Gail and Dave... we know where you live now!
