Heading for the hills - Abajo Mountain, Monticello Utah- more tire issues!

We relocated 50 miles down the road to Monticello and the Devil's Canyon campground. It was a bit cooler at 7500' and most of the sites were nestled in the pines and junipers. A nice break from the red dust, head and wind of Moab.

The visitors center was highly recommended, so we cruised by for info, maps and local tips.  Attached to the center was a museum with lots of local vintage, antique and historical items from the area.  Lot's of pride and history here.  With a recommendation of a scenic drive up into the mountains, we headed off.

Mountain blue bells

A bit of the day was for me - flowers, bugs, and scenics and some for birds for Tom

A bit of snow left at 9500' right at tree line.

And then there was something else for Tom..... it seemed that one of the very sharp, pointy rocks that we just drove 30 some miles on, had a 'thing' for one of our tires!  The 'alert' light came on and we headed to the air pump. After adding air, I could hear the air coming back out!  Right in the middle of the top of the tire.  Now what?

According to info found on the internet, Canyonland Tires, in Deming, was open till 8... well, the gas station part of it was, but the young man behind the counter agreed to open the bay up and help us put the spare on!
In the morning, we were at Bradford Tire in Deming to get the tire patched.  15 minutes later, and a $20 bill, we were on our way.   New shoes are in order when we get home.

Things come in threes, right?  This is actually our third tire issue on this trip.  The first was the blow out on day one.  The second was coming down from Colorado National Monument, I noticed one trailer tire was a bit low, the old one.  We pulled into the awesome Ace Hardware Co-op in Fruita and their tire shop in the back.  By the time I got out, inside the building, found and used the bathroom, got a bag of ice and was paying for it, Tom had the truck at the gas pump.  Less than 10 minutes and $8 later we had a new valve stem installed.  It was fixed so fast, I never had a chance to get a photo!
