Moab Utah - Canyonlands Island in the sky Day 3

The dirt trail of Schafer Trail, a road we chose to just look at... not experience on this trip.

Canyonlands National Park is divided into 3 sections, none of which can access the other.  Knowing this before we got there we planned one of our days to go into the Islands in the Sky area, entry from the north, not to far from Arches and easily accessible from Moab.

Mesa Arch, one of the iconic shooting spots in the park, an easy half mile walk.

While in Moab we experienced pretty high temps, 110-114.  We would head out early for a couple of hours, then home for brunch and a nap, then head out late afternoon for evening.

 

This section of the park is up on top of the mesa, so you look down onto the terrain and canyons.  It's hard to get the scale of things when you're not standing underneath a large rock formation.

We've also had some high winds - 'read' dust- that makes the air cloudy, dull and well, dusty! But also can make for a nice sunset!
