This impressive castle is Dunrobin Castle, 189 rooms and still being lived in. It's pretty impressive from any angle!

The front courtyard and entry.

The public is allowed into particular areas, many were quite impressive. One can really get a sense of history when walking through them. You can imagine the lords and ladies dining and sitting in the parlors. You can almost hear the rustle of the gowns.... ghosts perhaps?
A feature that this castle offers is a Falconry exhibit. A 90 minute presentation of birds of prey was worth the price of admission all by itself. I think it was 8 pounds per person, so not outrageous no matter how you look at it.

| Here's a European Eagle owl about to fly into Dad's tan hat.... |
The birds are flown daily and are used for hunting.

| Ok, he just grazed the hat.. but it was close! |
The trainer did a wonderful job of demonstrating the birds abilities and giving good info on them. It was a presentation that we still talk about!
We continued on our trek south and made a detour to see the mermaid statue. One of sculptures along the 'trail of statues'. Since we found out about this late in the trip, this is the only one we stopped at!
We are completing a trip loop with this leg and returning to the Black Rock Holiday Park in Evanston for one more night.
