Scotland - Durness to Dunnet Head, across the top of Scotland

The drive that we're doing was listed as being one of the top 10 drives to do in the world.  Of course, that was appealing to Tom and I in our planning of this trip.
This section of it from Durness to Dunnet head, I found absolutely stunning.  It's rough, raw and there is no one out here.  An occasional house or two, a church and that's about it for 70 or so miles.  The road drives around a loch so you get to see it on both sides. The scenery has been very rocky and craggy.  This section everything smooths out, and there are more moors and glens.

Now, keep in mind that there are three of us in a two front seated vehicle.  I'm sitting behind Tom, on the right hand side, facing the left side of the vehicle.  I can't see anything out the right side.  I get a bit of view out the passenger side- Gordie and a bit through the front window.  Not optimum, but it's working and keeping 'most' of us happy.  I haven't gotten the shots out the windows like I've done in other countries, but we've made adjustments and a lot more stops in passing places!

This is the entrance to Smoo Cave, located just around the corner from our campsite at Durness.  A natural cave that is impressive once you walk around the fence-line on the far right side.  This is the view from above it at roadside.

We didn't do more than just hike to the bottom and explore the first be cavern, right behind Gordie.  One can buy a ticket and take a boat across the water and then do some serious caving.... or not.

We ended our day at Dunnet Head, the 'actual' northern most point of Scotland.

And the 'hats' even made an appearance.  At 58' and some minutes north latitude we're the same latitude as Scandinavia!

And then our campsite for the night, again, wasn't too bad!
