As we set out each morning, we voice our ‘wish list’ for the day. We’ve done this with most of the animals, although some have been so visible it’s sort of funny that we even bothered with ‘hoping to see one’!
At all of the camps and gate entrances are ‘pin boards’for animal sightings. These magnetic map boards have colored magnets matching the ‘featured’ or most popular animals. You can check to see what was seen on yesterday’s board and what has been sighted that day. Quite often a board showed we’d just driven past where ‘cats’ had been seen. Not by us, however. Pretty typical!
But then we took a side trip to a ‘hide’, a location where you can get out of the car, scurry to the fenced enclosure and watch wildlife while standing, rather than sitting in your car.
On our way to one of these, we passed a couple who told us that Cheetahs had been spotted near this hide. We hurried off hoping that someone would still be there to point us in the right direction!
We got to see a female Cheetah and her three cubs lounging on the hillside! Check that one off the list! Now to find some closer!
We also found this lioness one morning... All by ourselves! Usually there's a string of cars all parked to alert you to something big!
