Scotland- Evanton to Oban

With plans to attend a Highland Game in Oban, we left Evanton and began our journey south.
We soon started to see country side like we'd expected - wide open spaces!  An occasional home out on some large piece of land.

Our route today, took us along side Loch Ness.
And no, we didn't spot Nessie.

Neither did Lefty!

This is the Urquhart Castle that was occupied about 550 years ago!  Everything here is old.  We had a
conversation with some ladies who'd lived in their communities for over 40 years, and they are not considered local!  Guess you have to have lots of old family to be a local.

This sort of creepy monument is to commemorate a MacDonald feud.  The seven heads on the top of this depict the head of the seven men that were murdered by a MacDonald over a several year long issue.  I guess he figured enough was enough!  The thing above the heads, is a hand with a blade in it.

Next along the way, was the Bridge of Oich.  I'm sure that this was something right out of a Monty Python movie!

And this is the new bridge that the motorway is on.  The white dot in the center is Tom's hat.
